Paul Joseph Haug III, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the age of 69. Beloved husband of Sherilyn Haug; cherished son of the late Margaret and Paul Joseph Haug, II. Devoted father of Paul Cameron Haug and Laura Elizabeth Haug; dear brother of Rita (Edward) Schwahl, Marybeth Haug, Peter Haug, and Veronica (Bob) Geraldson. Survived by loving family in Florida, Tennessee, New Jersey, Delaware, Arizona, and California.
Paul was a graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. He moved to California for a job at Hughes Aircraft, and fell in love with the area because it looked so different than New Jersey. He became a certified scuba diver and was later the president of his dive club. He was fondly known as the "scuba king", though that may have been a nickname he gave himself. He met wife Sher on a dive boat called, "The Vision" in Santa Barbara, California on August 2nd 1990. They married in 1993 and had two loving children. Paul lived in Los Angeles with his family until 2008. By then he was working at Boeing, and he transferred to St. Louis, Missouri, which became home for him and his family. He was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and a respected member of his church, Waypoint, where he served as a Stephen's Minister. He was a scuba and sky diver, an excellent shot, an adventurer through and through. Paul was one of the most interesting people you'd ever meet. His personality was beautifully unique; his kindness, ever present; his laugh, fully contagious. He was wildly intelligent, wickedly funny and a total bad ass. To know him was to love him. To be loved by him was one of life's greatest gifts. Paul was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in Paul's name to The ALS Association.
