Paul Leon Boyd left this earth for his eternal home on Friday, July 8, 2016, surrounded by his family.
Paul was born September 13, 1939 in Carl Junction, MO to Paul E. and Velma Boyd (nee: Pierce). After completing high school, Paul enlisted in the United States Airforce on February 2, 1959, and was honorably discharged on February 1, 1967. After his discharge Paul worked for Boeing Aircraft, Lockheed Marietta, TWA, retiring from Ozark Airlines after 19 ½ years and retiring from TWA after 9 ½ years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1000 in Jefferson City, MO.
Paul is survived by his wife of 50 years and 8 months, Opal Faye Boyd (nee: Hill); beloved son of the late Paul E. and Velma Boyd; devoted father of Julie (James) Hicks, JuDee (Woody) Wilson, Larry Boyd, Bobbie (Curt) Zimmermann, and Robert Paul (Bonnie) Boyd; cherished grandfather of Evan (Zabrina) Hicks, Melissa Hicks, Sgt. Matthew (Taryn) Wilson-USMC, Carl J. (Heather) Peterson IV, Patrick (Jessica) Peterson, Steven Peterson, and Spencer Boyd; treasured great-grandfather of Kayla and Joey Peterson, Avery and Bailey Hicks, Tatum and Maci Wilson, Kali Givens, and Hayden Peterson and future great grandson Baby Peterson; dear brother of Lucille (the late Rev. Robert) Wuellner and Sue (Glenn) Barnett; loving companion of his beloved dogs Foxxee and Babbee; and also survived by many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandson Paul Loren Boyd and daughter-in-law, Phyllis Ann Boyd.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and support staff at Missouri Baptist Hospital who attended to Paul during his 80 day stay in their CVR Unit. They left no stone unturned.
