Paul William Helms Jr., age 69, passed away on Wednesday, April 26th 2017 at William Christoffersen VA Nursing Home in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on February 5, 1948 in Connellsville, PA to Gladys Ruth Weaver & Paul William Helms, both deceased. Paul served honorably in the United States Coast Guard from 1965-1969, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. He loved fast cars, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the music of Elvis Presley. Cora "Jane" Helms (nee: Kellison).Paul & Jane were married on April 12, 1969 in St. Louis, MO, and lived and raised a family there for over 42 years, until she passed on January 16, 2012. Paul was a hard worker and a proud father of two sons, Paul W. Helms III (Daniel Prorok) and Matthew A. Helms. He was also admired, loved and respected by his brothers and sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, friends and colleagues throughout his life.
Paul relocated from St. Louis to Salt Lake City in December 2014. Special thanks to the amazing Doctors, Nurses and Staff at George E. Wahlen VA Hospital, the Neuro team at University of Utah Medical Center, the “Hall of Heroes" Memory Care Unit at William Christoffersen VA Nursing Home and Bristol Hospice in Salt Lake City for their compassion, support and love. Your care was second to none and made all the difference in the world!
Per family wishes, a private interment ceremony for family and close friends will take place at Baue – St. Charles Memorial Gardens, 3950 W. Clay in St. Charles, MO on Friday, May 5th at 2 p.m.
