Peggy R. Smith

Peggy R. Smith (nee Bretthorst), of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022, at the age of 97. Beloved wife of the late James "Jake" W. Smith; cherished daughter of the late Edward and Helen Bretthorst. Devoted mother of Sharon (David) Borgmeyer, Karen (the late Herbert) Rivera, and Peggy Jo (Charlie) Privett; loving grandmother of Bryan (Nancy) Birch, Christopher Birch, Alan (Melanie) Huster, Susan (Rick) Grettemeyer, James (Patty) Huster, Marcus (Beth) Rivera, Sarah Rivera, Michael (Tara) Ewers, Jr., Jennifer (Frank) Guarnieri, and the late Rebecca Ewers; 11 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Granddaughter. Preceded in death by 3 Brothers and 1 Sister.

Peggy was a founding member of Good Shepherd United Church of Christ- St. Charles, Mo. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary #312 St. Charles, Missouri, and the Red Hat Ladies. Peggy enjoyed crafts and dart ball at the American Legion Hall. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. Her greatest enjoyment in her life was her family. Peggy was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
