Phillis K. DeMerchant (nee Freeman), of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018, at the age of 76. Wife of 52 years to Blanchard L. DeMerchant; beloved daughter of the late Theodore and Letha Freeman; devoted mother of Sonya DeMerchant and Nicole (Ramiro Pacheco) DeMerchant; cherished grandmother of Nicolas Rivera; dear sister of Judy (Thomas) Hicks, Beverly (David) Spodeck, and Jimmie (Ruth) Freeman.
Phillis was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She spent many years devoted to education through her teaching career at Parson’s Elementary School, in Gibralter, Michigan. She was also an accomplished artist, gardener, and world traveler. She enjoyed her many visits to Europe, especially her time spent in Scotland. Phillis was also a gifted decorator, who loved decorating her homes throughout the years in her eclectic and flawless personal style. Phillis was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
