R. Michael Flowers of O'Fallon, MO, passed away at the age of 88 on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. Michael is survived by his dear children Karen Lambert, Susan (Kevin) Harrod, Deborah Scott, Judy Beucler, Michael Flowers, and Robert (Penny) Flowers; his seven precious grandchildren; and his six treasured great-grandchildren.
Michael is preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy and his parents Wilford Flowers and Adele Aye.
Michael served his country proudly in the United States Marines during the Korean War and was part of the Battle of Chosin Reservoir. After leaving the military with an honorable discharge, he went on to a 4-year apprenticeship to become a tool and die maker and worked for McDonnell Douglas, Carber Carburetor, and ITT Blackburn. He married his love Dorothy Flowers (nee Glasstetter) and had 6 children before she passed away in 1985. When Michael retired, he enjoyed playing golf, attending Marine reunions and playing piano. He was a member of the local VFW and was able to be a part of a memorable Missouri Honor Flight in 2012. Michael went to the Bread Co. most mornings to meet his friends at 6:30 am. He greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends and he will be dearly missed by all.
