Ralph John Mattingly, of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Monday, July 5, 2021 at the age of 71. Cherished son of the late Ralph George and Virginia A. Mattingly (nee Richter); beloved husband of Susanna Mattingly; devoted father of Marilyn (Justin) Ferguson of St. Charles, MO, Jason Mattingly of Ironton, MO, and Christina (Patrick) Murphy of Ames, IA; and cherished grandfather of Raegan Murphy and Mitchell Murphy. Ralph was also a brother to Carol (Tom) McElroy of Ballwin, MO, Jim (Jo) Swearengin and Patti (Ernie) Hamilton of Springfield, MO. He was a beloved uncle, cousin and a friend to many.
Ralph proudly and honorably served in the United States Navy. He dedicated 31 years as a mechanic to McDonnell Douglas and then Boeing. After retirement, Ralph enjoyed travelling and spending time with his wife, family and friends. His family had a lifelong tradition for the love of being on the water which he instilled in his family and Ralph created many friends and memories on the river. Ralph enjoyed pulling his children and then grandchildren tubing and was an avid navigator that could dock any boat with only an inch to spare. He was a member of Two Rivers Boat Club, The Elks Lodge and St. Cletus Catholic Church. Ralph was a kind and compassionate man who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ralph’s name to
Village of Blue Rose and
Special Olympics.
