Raymond Douglas Engelmeyer, of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 14, 2020 at the age of 68. He is now reunited with his true love of 38 years, Tomi Engelmeyer. Beloved son of the late Pauline and William Engelmeyer, Sr.; dear brother of Donald (Maureen) Engelmeyer, Gerald (Sharon) Engelmeyer, Paul (Mary Scully) Engelmeyer, Patricia Clare (Geoffrey) Plott, Stephen (Eileen) Engelmeyer, Barbara (Mark) Ryan, Mary Engelmeyer, Joan Engelmeyer, and the late William F. Engelmeyer Jr.; loving uncle of Donald, William, Geoffrey, Natalie, Valerie, Kaegan, Erik, Luke, Jane, Bill, Robert, Elizabeth, Nora, Christopher, Nicholas, Alexander, Audrey, and Marco; treasured great-uncle of Victoria, Emma, Carter, Nolen, Addison, Will, Graham, Ryder, Tuesday, Marley, Frances Rose, Bennett, Rowan, Olive, Ruth, Maiya, Ryan, Lucille, Harriet, Ivan, and Eden. Ray is also survived by his adorable miniature poodle, Peko.
Ray proudly and honorably served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. He met Tomi, the love of his life, while he was stationed over seas. He often said, "I guess it was written at birth, a German boy was to be in her life." Ray worked for AT&T and retired after more than 40 years with the company.
Ray was known for his strength, both physically and emotionally, and was a real rock of support to his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and his blue eyes would sparkle when he made others laugh. He was a true gentleman who had a wonderful heart and genuinely cared for those around him.
Ray loved music, especially blues & jazz music, and he enjoyed playing the drums. He was also an avid horse racing fan and vintage car enthusiast. He had a passion for the written word, as seen in his talent for writing and his extensive library of books.
Ray could usually be found outdoors, and he enjoyed fishing and gardening with his wife, Tomi. He also liked to socialize wherever he went, and rarely knew a stranger; he was also a very good listener. Ray was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorial contributions may be made in Ray's name to
American Cancer Society.
