Raymond "Ray" Francis Schwan, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of the late Lynne Schwan; cherished son of the late Raymond and Margaret Schwan; devoted father of Mary Elizabeth (Jimmy) Wiedemeier, Karen Brookes, Timothy (Alicia) Schwan, Judy (Gary) Niemann, Greg Unger, Jeff Unger and the late Robyn (Drake survives) ; loving grandfather and great-grandfather to many; dear brother of Rich (Debbie) Schwan, George (MaryAnn) Schwan and Pat (Jack) Williams; treasured uncle, cousin and friend to many. 

Ray was a dedicated member of the Carpenters Union and a skilled millwright, who left behind a legacy of hard work, love, and cherished memories. Ray was proud of his contributions to the construction of the iconic St. Louis Arch. 

A man of strong will and lively spirit, Ray embraced life’s adventures, from hunting and fishing to golfing and building model airplanes. He was an avid reader, with a particular love for history and westerns. Ray also found joy in fundraising events for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, proudly supporting their mission by attending drag queen and trivia nights. 

Ray was a devoted family man who adored spending time with loved ones. A passionate fan of KC and Mizzou football, he also deeply valued supporting his grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to cheer them on at their sports events. His favorite place was Bull Shoals, where he found peace and camaraderie among family and friends. 

Ray’s spirit, humor, and unwavering support will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His warmth and strength will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him. 

Memorials may be made in Ray's name to Evelyn's House or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
