Richard Brooks Espy

Richard Brooks Espy of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020, at the age of 89. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 18 years, Judith Ann Espy, and preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Betty Lou Masters Espy.

Richard was the cherished son of the late Albert Lowry Espy and Beatrice Catherine Espy, and brother to the late Albert Lowry Espy, Jr. He was the greatest dad in the world to Susan (late Gerald "Jerry") Harrington, and Lisa (late Bruce) Henderson; step-father of Michael (Susan) Daiber, Carol (Steve) Weinman, Laura (Gottfried) Theimer, and Steven Daiber; treasured grandfather of Gerald "C.J." (Ashley) Harrington, Brooke Harrington, Jason (Jennifer) Henderson, Brittany (Rick) Schroder, Andrew (Angela) Henderson, Travis (Hannah) Henderson, Kyle Henderson (passed away in infancy), and Joe (Karley) Henderson; step-grandfather of Erin Weinman, Sarah Weinman, Tiffany Daiber, and Stephanie Daiber; treasured great-grandfather of Hayden, Connor, Preston, Sean, Kinlee, Gerald, Thymley, Jackson, Mason, Emerson, Hugo, Lincoln, Liam, Adalynn, Lysander, Emmett, and Nora.

Richard proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a lifelong church and community volunteer.  He was in a barbershop quartet in the 1950s, loved clowns, classic cars, the Indianapolis 500, the WWE, and traveling.  Richard was often described as the nicest man that anyone knew.  He was fun, and made friends everywhere he went.

Richard was dearly loved, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
