Richard C. Sherk

Sherk, Richard C., died Thursday, April 26, 2012 after battling cancer. Born in Glendale, California, May 27, 1928 to Maria "Mae" Maier and Russell W. Sherk. He leaves behind his wife,Vivian JoAn Sherk and daughters, Donna S. Cunningham and husband Richard and Cara East and Gail Edmunds. He was a proud "Gramps" of Sara and JP Reyes, Kyle Orf and Haylee, JoAnna and Rob Rothweiler, Chad Larkowski, Erin and Robbie del Rosario, and Brett Larkowski. Extra proud "Great Gramps" to Michelle and Maria "Lorrie" Rothweiler and Noah Reyes. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends including Honey, Larry, Kathy, Bob, Patti, his YMCA, State Farm buddies and Commerce Bank friends at 94 Crossing, and loving caretakers at Delmar Gardens – O'Fallon, BJC Hospice staff and Siteman Cancer Center doctors and staff in Saint Peters. Special thanks to Dr. Andrew Y. Chao, SSM Medical Group. Dick was retired, but never stopped working. He was a business owner of J & B Tool Service, Sunset Hills alderman, Sunset Hills police commissioner, flight engineer (Naval reserves – 17 years), and avid gardener. Preceeded in death by his youngest daughter, Cynthia J. "Cindi" Larkowski, his parents, brother – Russell W. Sherk and his Champion Standard Schnauzer – Kartch. The family will have a private memorial service and request all donations to be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society or St. Charles Humane Society.
