Richard “Dickie” Ohlms of Saint Peters, MO, passed away at the age of 77 on Sunday, May 31, 2020. Beloved husband of the late Mary “Jean” Ohlms; cherished son of the late Ernst and Agatha Ohlms. Loving father of Richard (Joan) Ohlms Jr., Mark Ohlms, Jeffrey Ohlms and Andrew (Kelly) Ohlms; treasured grandfather of Zachary Ohlms, Summer (Zach) Urich, Cale Ohlms, Chandler Ohlms, Drew Ohlms, Saylor Ohlms, Piper Ohlms, and Gabriella Ohlms; dear brother of Dan (Glenna) Ohlms; Mary Kay (Nick) Gregory, Michael (Mary Beth) Ohlms, and the late Elizabeth Ohlms.
Dick proudly served in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Senior Chief after twenty-one years of honorable service to his country. His service also included multiple tours in Vietnam. He later went on to a successful career in the U.S. Postal Service and retired after twenty years.
Following and supporting his boys’ sporting activities during their childhood was a passion for Dick. He really enjoyed watching Cardinals baseball, college basketball and golf. He also loved getting out on the golf course, doing some trout fishing with his family at Bennett Springs and working on the cars with his boys. His giving nature was inspiring to all those around him and they knew that he could be counted on to help. Dick was a wonderful cook who loved having his family over for barbecues. Above everything, Dick loved spending time with his family and treasured the memories they all made together over the years. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his beloved Jack Russell Terrier, Alfie.
