Richard “Dick” Saip, of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the age of 90. Loving husband of Wanda F. Saip; beloved son of the late William E. and Elsie A. Saip; devoted father of Lee A. (Sue) Saip, Vicki E. Petkovich, Teri (Tom) Seiler, and Dena (Betty) Saip; cherished grandfather of Matthew (Beth), Caitlin, Kimberly (Jeff), Bradley (Raksha), Sam, and Tanner; treasured great-grandfather of Ella, Kiley, Connor, Krish, and Zaya Grace. Dick is also preceded in death by his brother William D. Saip, and survived by his brother George E. Saip.
Dick proudly served his country, from 1949-1953 in the United States Navy. He served on the USS Rendova in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post #312 and a past commander of the Korean War Veterans Association and of the United States Power Squadron. Dick was also a longtime member of First St. Charles United Methodist Church. He was an usher and greeted everyone with a bright smile. Dick worked as an Air Traffic Controller for Federal Aviation Administration from 1957-1980.
Dick married the love of his life, Wanda, and they were married for 70 happy years. Family was always very important. Dick loved gathering with immediate family and also getting everyone together for family reunions. Dick had many interests and hobbies. He liked traveling, boating, bowling, fishing, music, art and good food.
Memorials may be made in Dick’s name to Korean War Veterans Association, First St. Charles United Methodist Church & SSM Hospice in St. Charles.
