Dick Dalton graduation St. Charles (Mo.) High School co-valedictorian, entered Central College, and following World War II service in the United States Navy, he returned to Central on the GI Bill to study science and earn their highest honors, including membership in Sigma Epsilon Pi and recognition in Who’s Who Among Students in American University and Colleges.
His Graduate studies in inorganic chemistry at the University of Illinois-Champaign-Urbana followed, He earned the MS. and Ph.D. degrees, also with a myriad of academic and scientific honors.
In 1951 Dr, Dalton joined the DuPont Company as a research chemist. His leadership and organizational abilities quickly led to promotions and successive management and sales positions in industrial chemicals, agrichemicals and pharmaceuticals. In 1976 Dick moved to Endo Laboratories, a DuPont subsidiary. In1982 he retired to a farm north of St. Louis.
Dick began consulting with BioTechnica International a biotechnology firm in Cambridge, Mass in 1985, he became an officer, commuting weekly from St. Louis. In 1991 he led a spin-off OmniGene which he served as president, chairman and CEO until his second retirement in 1995.
His remaining years were spent enjoying his farm in the country and his wife of 71 years Ginny Griewing Dalton.
