Robert "Bob" A. Meyer of St. Charles passed away peacefully on Friday October 2nd at the age of 78 surrounded by his family. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Arlie H. Meyer (Former Missouri State Rep) and Flora Meyer. Bob is survived by his loving wife Jean Meyer of 50 years of marriage, Proud Father of Robert (Charla) Harbour, Michael Leigh (George Black) Harbour and Keith (Sheila) Meyer; his beloved grandchildren, Antonio, Miguel, Joey, Alex, Ben, Kelsey, and Olivia and his great grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his brother, Donald E. Meyer, nephews, Doug (Becky) Meyer, Brad (Laura) Meyer and he was a great uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Bob was born and raised in St. Charles. He attended St. Charles High School. Bob received a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Missouri Columbia where he was an active member of the ATO fraternity, where he created lifelong friendships.
After graduating from Mizzou, he joined his brother’s business, Meyer Real Estate. This would begin a 43 year career as a Sales Manager and Broker Owner helping the people of St. Charles County buy and sell property. Bob was well respected in the business community and beyond. His love for Missouri and the people he cared for was ever present in his daily life in and out of work.
After retirement, Bob wintered in Florida and split his summers in St. Charles and Lake of the Ozarks. He enjoyed golf, boating, travelling with friends, walks on the beach and time with his family.
Bob was active in the St. Charles JC’s, St. Charles Chamber of Commerce, Pikers Fishing and Hunting Club, and past President of the St. Charles County Association of Realtors, as well as a life long member of St. John UCC. Throughout his career in business and the community Bob often held leadership roles in order to give back to the community he so loved, he was an integral part of the 1976 Bicentennial Celebration in St. Charles. Anyone that met Bob was instantly drawn to his big heart and strength of character. His legacy will live on in all those he impacted during his life.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the service and burial will be private to respect the health of family, friends, and all those who loved Bob. A celebration of Bob’s life will be planned in the (hopefully near) post-COVID future. His remembrance page at Baue Funeral Home has been created to share memories, stories, and pictures. We would deeply appreciate it if you could take a moment to share a thought, memory, a picture, or (best) a funny story. We will all cherish those memories. We celebrate all that Bob accomplished and all the lives he touched. We will love him always and will miss him dearly.
Memorials may be made in Bob's name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic Baue Funeral Homes does require all family members and guests to wear a mask while visiting our facilities. Social distancing is required, and guests should stay at least 6 feet apart. Thank you for your understanding.
