Robert "Bob" Wayne Harmon, beloved husband of Colleen Goldkamp Harmon, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at the age of 91. He was born in Louisville, KY on October 22, 1929 and spent most of his childhood in Lynn, Indiana. Bob was a professional engineer with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (1951) and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering High Voltage Power Option (1955) from Purdue University. Bob had a long career with the Ohio Brass Company (1955-1968) and the A.B. Chance Company (1968-1993). He was accomplished in his field and held 30 U.S. patents on insulators and electrical apparatuses. He was registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri. His designs and patents are now in use all over North America. He served as Consultant on a multitude of projects and his engineering contributions are still used in applications today. Bob held membership in several prestigious organizations including the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) the American Society for Testing Material (ASTM) and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association. Bob also authored multiple technical papers and articles in several high-profile publications.
Every night before dinner, Bob enjoyed drinking a Manhattan. He loved being active and spending time outdoors fishing, camping, and white-water rafting. Bob also liked boxing and was a member of Rock Steady Boxing. He enjoyed a good book and was an avid reader. Bob was a member of the Blanchette Stock Club. Bob also loved spending time at his chalet at Innsbrook and went there as much as he could. Bob was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him
Bob was blessed by two great loves in his life. He is survived by his wife Colleen Goldkamp Harmon. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary (Cobb) Harmon. He is survived by four sons Wayne (Ann) Harmon; Keith (Robin) Harmon; Art (Sandra) Harmon; and Fred (Diane) Harmon. He was a loving stepfather to Ann Lamb (deceased), Barb (Dave) Henry; Kathy (Chris) Jones; and Janice (Dave) Beerman. He was a loving grandfather to his 22 grandchildren: Ashley (Josh) Pollard, Eric Harmon, Katie Grace Harmon, Ellie Harmon, Dixie Harmon, Amanda Harmon, Ted Harmon, Charlie Harmon, Robby Lamb (deceased), Bridget Lamb, Megan Lamb, Rachel Henry, Matthew Henry, Danny Henry, Sam Henry, Jack Jones, Katie Jones, Christopher Jones, Tyler Beerman, Riley Beerman, Maddie Beerman and Michael Beerman and 1 great-grandson, Dylan Simmons: brother of Donald Harmon and Barbara Harmon; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
