Robert Strother Clay Jr., of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the age of 73. Beloved husband of Alda “Cookie” Clay; cherished son of the late Marcella E. and Robert Strother Clay, Sr.; dear brother of Anna Marie (Gerald) Kill; loving uncle, brother-in-law, and friend to many.
Robert, a multifaceted individual with a passion for diverse literary genres, a delightful sense of humor, a deep affinity for chess and a particular fondness for Civil War history, as well as an enthusiasm for antiquing, dedicated his time and expertise to numerous community endeavors. He served as a respected board member at Immanuel Lutheran, where he also fulfilled the role of a compassionate Stephen minister. Additionally, he generously contributed his time as an Oasis tutor and regularly volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Over the span of three decades, Robert made significant contributions to Commerce Bank as a dedicated banker. His warm-hearted nature endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his absence will be profoundly felt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Robert's name to Immanuel Lutheran, Parkinson’s Foundation, or Lutheran Senior Services Hospice.
