Memorials may be made to SSM Hospice. Wheeler, Bob, of St. Charles, Missouri, died on Monday, August 4, 2008 at the age of 72. Dearest husband of Catherine L. Wheeler; dear son of Hilda (and the late Steve) Tendick and the late Doyle Wheeler; devoted father of Steve (Ursula) Wheeler, Rick Wheeler, Robert (Sabrina) Wheeler II, Vickie (Frank) Lockridge, Tammy (Ken) Prosise and the late Ron Wheeler; dear step-father of Angel Spencer and Robin Staley; beloved grandfather of 15 and great-grandfather of 12. He served his country for 20 years. First 8 years in the Marine Corp and 12 years in the Air Force. He was a parachute rigger, scuba diver instructor and Air Traffic Controller in Avenno, Italy. In between and after service, he was Bridgeton's first motorcycle patrolman, worked for McDonnell Douglas in the Gemini Space Craft Program. He retired from JC Penney as Lost Prevention Manager, but he wasn't done yet. He worked in Security for Station Casino. Bob enjoyed RVing with his wife, spending winters in Texas. Graveside service Thursday, August 7, 2008, 11:00 AM, Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. A gathering will be held at the family home from 1:00-3:00 PM to celebrate Bob's Life.
