Robert E. Kayler

November 26, 1922 — September 24, 2015

Robert E. “Bob” Kayler of Saint Charles, MO, died Thursday, September 24, 2015, at the age of 92. Beloved husband of Marjorie Kayler for 64 years, he was known for being a “people-person” with a great sense of humor.

Bob was born in Alliance, Ohio, November 26, 1922, the son of Samuel Earl and Edith Lenore Kayler. He graduated from what is now Cleveland State University with a degree in Business Administration. From 1943 to 1946, he served his country in the Army.

In 1951, Bob married Marjorie Hartman. They raised their four children in Ohio, Arizona, and Colorado. Bob was actively involved in his children’s lives, teaching them to share family responsibilities and help each other. He was faithful to take his family to church every week, and later in life, he accepted Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior.

Bob sold insurance for many years. Later he worked with Marjorie and son Adam in their party shop (Wisconsin) and their carpet cleaning business (Florida). Bob and Marjorie moved to Saint Charles in 2004. Bob quickly became a favorite door greeter at Walmart as he spent his days assisting customers, listening to their stories, and telling them jokes.

Bob is survived by his wife Marjorie and children Wendy (Kyle) Knight, Kyle (Christine) Kayler, Adam (Teresa) Kayler, and Beth Revis; his grandchildren Jennifer (Matt) Rutherford, Amy (Luke) Gleaves, Christopher (Alesha) Kayler, Jacob Kayler, Sarah Kayler, Ryan (Ashley) Revis, and Kacey (Neil) Elson; 9 great-grandchildren; and sister Barbara Whitcomb. Bob was preceded in death by his son-in-law, David Revis, and brother-in-law, Merle Whitcomb.

Bob will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial Service: October 24, 2015, at 2 pm at Christview Christian Church, 64 Terrie Lane, Saint Charles, MO 63301
