Robert Joseph Gunter

GUNTER, ROBERT J. age 91 of O'Fallon MO. passed away Friday, November 1, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years. He had 3 daughters, 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Bob served in the Air Force from July 1952 to July 1956, and completed the Ground Radio Repair School at Scott Air Base at Bellville Il. In 1953 after completing school, he was assigned to the RSM at Donaldson AFB in Greenville SC.

In August 1954 he was reassigned to the 41" RSM in Bremerhaven, Germany on dog Trick from 1954 to Feb. 1955 at which time Bob was assigned to JAMAT-TUSLOG in Ankara Turkey and later assigned to Samsun.

During the years after the Air Force, Bob worked for McDonald Aircraft on both the Mercury and Apollo spacecraft electronic equipment and later the Missouri state government and the State Legislature prior to joining the Federal EPA.

During his Federal time Bob served as the FEMA Response and Recovery Director for 20 national declared disasters.
