Robert John “Bob” Smythe
September 24, 1931 — May 30, 2022
In loving memory of, Robert John “Bob” Smythe, who passed away on Monday May 30, 2022, at the age of 90 after a brief time of declining health. Bob was a devoted and caring husband to his wife, Margaret Smythe (nee Davis) for 57 years. He was the best and most awesome Dad a girl could ever be blessed with, and a wonderful papa to Fallon and Josh. One of the kindest souls you would ever meet, Bob was a gentle, giving man who worked hard but took the time to enjoy life along the way. He joined the United States Navy in 1952 and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He worked at St. Charles Dairy for 19 years, and he retired as a landscaper from St. Charles School District. Throughout his life, Bob enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, and reading. Cars were his thing, and he could often be found talking about cars, buying cars, and doing car shows. With his love of the outdoors, Bob had an amazing green thumb and loved tending to his flower garden and maintaining his beautiful yard. His morning coffee house visits with friends were a regular part of his life. Before the loss of Margaret, they were always together, and they enjoyed hanging out with family and friends. They loved doing fun things with Fallon and Josh, traveling, and spending days at the Lily Farm or watching the river roll by. There is no doubt his family and friends will smile when they think of Bob and always remember the amazing guy he was. He will be so missed by all who knew him. Bob is survived by his daughter Lisa, grandchildren Fallon and Joshua, great grandchildren Lukas and Zakary, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret, his mother Charlotte, and siblings Jim, Lucille, Rosemary, June, Alice, and Bill. Forever in our hearts always.
