Robert "Sid" J. Sidler of O'Fallon, MO, passed away at the age of 55 on Sunday, June 16, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Mary Ellen Sidler.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie Sidler; his children, Robert (Emily) Sidler and Katherine “Katie” Sidler; his siblings, Richard (Cristina) Sidler, Erika (Ron) Anderson, and Hans (Gretchen) Sidler; his grandsons, Nolan, Levi, and Jude Sidler; and he was a loving uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
As an avid skier, the only thing Rob loved more than the mountains was his family. A purveyor of knock-knock jokes, he relished in the opportunity to pass down a wealth of laughs and “Rob Sidler groaners” to his three young grandsons, whom he truly adored and enjoyed spending every moment possible with.
Rob was extremely proud of his children and was ever present from the smallest event to the biggest of celebration, always with the same level of enthusiasm that would continuously light up the room, no matter what the occasion. He could often be found with a smile on his face and a song in his heart that often came forward with a tune or a whistle and as a lifelong music lover and musician himself, his guitar was never far behind. His family enjoyed many nights of his song stylings from the living room, or front porch or anywhere else there was an ear and an audience. Rob was also proud of his Swiss heritage and could often times be found brushing up on his German- usually again with another laugh along the way.
Rob was an active skier and time and time again you could find him on a ski trip out to the mountains of Colorado, whether with family or friends, as well as many a night and weekend at Hidden Valley during the cold winter months. Rob became very active as a volunteer and instructor with the Disabled Athlete Sports Association’s Gateway Disabled Ski Program, where he enjoyed working with disabled veterans and individuals and enhancing their abilities as athletes, making skiing accessible to all. He enjoyed hiking and being outdoors, often canoeing or going for a bike ride, and was never far from sharing a good story (or 10).
The proud business owner of Trade Talk Solutions, Rob enjoyed working his business from home and staying close to his wife Debra, whom he loved for 35 years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the
Gateway Disabled Ski Program to honor Rob’s commitment to share his passion and love for the sport with each and every one of us. He will be missed deeply by many.
