Robert “Bob” West, of Saint Peters, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 8, 2022, at the age of 83. Loving husband of 48 years to Joy West; beloved son of the late James L. and Gail West; devoted father of Kim (Richard) Schaub; cherished grandfather of Michael (Mandi) Schaub, Amanda (Alan) Robinson and Dustin (Jen) Schaub; treasured great-grandfather of Patrick, Mark, Orion, Amelia and Emma; dearest brother-in-law of Richard Webb and Cathy Webb; dear uncle of Natalie (Shawn) Hoselton and Jen Webb; great-uncle of Elly Hoselton, Zoey Hoselton and Jayden Webb.
Bob grew up in Arkansas, and every year he would take a family vacation to go to the reunion there. He was very loyal and had lifelong friends that he made in grade school and high school, and they still got together for fun dinners quite often throughout the years.
Bob met his wife Joy on a blind date, and they married six months later. They had a wonderful marriage and created a beautiful family together. Bob and Joy traveled on cruises together, and they attended musicals at The Muny every summer. And even though Bob was always afraid of the water, he learned to love the boat rides when they went to the Lake of the Ozarks for family time.
Bob was a hardworking man who loved working, and he retired from Continental Can Co./Crown Cork AE Seal after 30 years of employment. He then went on to work another 8 years at Wainwright, Inc., just because he missed working.
In his free time, Bob enjoyed reading mystery novels and the newspaper. He loved going to the grocery store and seeking out new products to try, and he enjoyed talking to the clerks and staff. He had a great sense of humor and was very funny, and he always enjoyed making people laugh. He loved playing Santa Claus every year for his grandkids. Most of all, he enjoyed watching his grandkids and nieces' games to cheer them on.
The heart of our family has passed on, and he is now at rest and peace in God’s loving arms. He will live in our hearts and memories forever until we meet again. Memorial contributions may be made in Robert's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
