Rodney Edward Hecht of Saint Charles, MO, passed away at the age of 43 on Thursday, August 20, 2020. Beloved son of Velma and the late Richard Hecht; loving brother of Sue (the late Richard) Sommer, Brian (Jen) Hecht, and the late Randy Richard Hecht; treasured uncle of Ashley (Elliott) Burkemper, Kayla (Wesley) Finke, Noah Hecht, and Lydia Hecht; dear great-uncle of Sierra Burkemper.
As a young boy, Rodney was selected as the poster child for the United Way. He was specially honored during the 1982 World Series between the Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers, as the person to throw the first pitch for the 7
th game. He then went on to graduate from St. Charles West High School in 1995, and he began a rewarding career at Boone Center in 1998, where he especially enjoyed working with the mouse traps.
Rodney had a wide set of hobbies and interests. He was a fan of country music and enjoyed reading Country Weekly magazine when it was still in publication. Going out bowling was something Rodney always looked forward to as well as enjoying dinner at one of his favorite restaurants such as JJ Twig’s, Stefanina’s, JJ’s, and Cracker Barrel.
Spending time with his family also brought him great joy, and his nieces and nephew fondly remember playing on his wheelchair as children. He is lovingly remembered for his kind and gentle nature, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
