Roe Ann Walker, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2019 at the age of 62. Beloved wife of Mitchell Patton; cherished daughter of the late Row and Gearldean Walker. Devoted mother of Alec (Maria) Patton, Cory (Sarah) Patton, and Andrew (Libby) Patton; loving grandmother of Walker Lee, Mabel Jane, Kai Mitchell, Ann Walker, Cooper Wayne, and Francis Woodrow, with the 7th on the way! Dear older sister of Jill Foss, Jenne (the late Michael) Walker-Counts, and Sally (Allen) Serfas. She is also survived by many loving family members.
Roe Ann was a true renaissance woman. She loved the arts, sports, and to travel. As a professional, Roe Ann spent 27 years working at Caleres (“Brown Shoe Company”). She was involved in all facets of the wholesale footwear business, retiring as the Director of Order Management. After retiring, Roe Ann took the knowledge and experience from her career and dove headfirst into Habitat for Humanity – St. Charles County; and at the beginning of 2019, she was named a Board Member.
The title that Roe Ann had the most success in, however, was her dual role as a wife and mother. As a wife, Roe Ann loved to travel with Mitchell. Some of their favorite destinations were somewhere with a beach, or overseas in France and Italy; all of which they were able to visit after they retired. After almost 40 years of marriage, Roe Ann and Mitchell also thoroughly enjoyed the time they spent together at home and visiting kids and grandkids who lived both in and out of town. As a mother, Roe Ann immersed herself into all things boy. She instilled her core values into Alec, Cory, and Andrew. She encouraged each boy to find his own path and achieve his own success. The boys finally listened to their mother after many years of trial and error, and are now happily settled into careers of their own. As Mitchell likes to say, they raised an educator (Alec), an animator (Cory), and a litigator (Andrew).
But there is no doubt that Roe Ann’s favorite title was that of “Roe Roe”. Roe Ann loved being a grandparent. She attended t-ball games and dance recitals, put treat bags together for every holiday, and was unabashed in taking an opportunity to spoil a grandkid. Roe Ann will be missed by so many people. That is a testament to who she was as a person. She treated everyone with respect and dignity, and as a result demanded nothing less in return. She will continue to hold a special place in so many hearts.
