Ruby Ann Heathman was born in Sacred Heart, Oct. 9, 1934, to Clarence L. Fundingsland-Iverson and Hilda H. (Schuerer) Iverson. She was baptized Nov. 15, 1934, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart and confirmed May 16, 1948, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She attended Montevideo High School graduating with the class of 1953. Ruby worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone in Minneapolis where she met Michael F. Dougherty, and were united in married at Ft Snelling Military Chapel on April 16, 1955, where he had been stationed in the Air Force. They moved to St Louis, Mo., where she worked for Universal Match Corp for many years. Michael passed away May 23, 1997, and she married James A. Heathman on Oct. 9, 1999. They spent time in retirement in Mesa, Ariz., at their home in Leisure World community. He passed away on Nov. 19, 2013, and she moved back to the St. Louis area. After a severe fall in her apartment, she moved to Garland, Texas, to be near her son and family where she passed away peacefully at the Rittenhouse Senior Living Center on May 6, 2017. She was an avid book reader throughout the years and loved to crochet making many afghans and items for others that were truly works of art. In earlier years she was part of the Amvets Ladies Auxiliary of Missouri. She is survived by her son, Brian W. (and Molly) Dougherty, of Sachse, Texas; daughter Julie A. (and Walter “Tom”) Todd, of Doniphan, Mo.; four grandchildren, Michael D. Johnson III, Shawn P. Johnson, and twins, Sarah-Lynn and Andrew Dougherty; and one greatgrandchild, Isabella Sophia Johnson; sister, Sharyn (and Rev. Gary) Klatt, of Luverne; and very special stepson, Terry (and Lynna) Heathman, of Wentzville, Mo.; plus other cousins and friends. Her parents; infant son, Michael; brother, Kenneth Iverson; and both husbands preceded her in death.
