Russell Gilbert Kiefer, of Perryville, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the age of 99. Beloved husband of the late Alice Kiefer and the late Ruby Kiefer; cherished son of the late Gilbert and Lila Kiefer; devoted father of the late Gary (Darleen) Kiefer, the late David Kiefer, Rebecca Wagenblast, Stephen (Kathy) Kiefer, the late James Kiefer, the late Francis Kiefer, the late Jay Allen Kiefer, Phillip (Rosita) Kiefer, Agnes Marie (Roy) Lugwig, the late Joseph Kiefer, Gerald (Terre) Kiefer, the late Ida Mae Hardy, Kenneth Kiefer, and Lisa McClure (Jeffrey) Ferguson; dear brother of Verla Henson, the late Kenneth Kiefer, and the late Mary Lou Mildon; treasured grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, and great-great-great grandfather to many.
Russell was a member of St. Vincent DePaul in Perryville and Blessed Virgin Mary of the Assumption Church in O'Fallon. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years as a Communications Master Chief during World War II. He was the highest-ranking radioman at his retirement. Following his Navy service, he was a manufacturing supervisor for Monsanto for 18 years, and he was also on the Civil Defense team in Kansas and Missouri. Russell was a HAM operator, and he performed community service as a Eucharistic Minister to nursing homes in the area. Russell was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in Russell's name to Masses (Assumption Church – O’Fallon or St. Vincent DePaul - Perryville).
