Russell "Russ" Dale Rosenthal

Russell (Russ) Dale Rosenthal, 80, of St. Charles, MO, passed away January 23, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital in St. Charles, MO. He is survived by daughter Ann (Tim) Davis, his son Russell (Anna) Rosenthal, granddaughter Mackenzie Rosenthal, as well as many cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and former spouse, Sherry Rosenthal. 

He was born November 28, 1944, in St. Louis, MO to Russell Lee Rosenthal and Anna May (Moellmann) Rosenthal. As a child, he attended Catholic school and served as an altar boy. 

Russell enlisted in the United States Marines from 1964 to 1968, where he served for 4 years. During his service time, he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and served in the Vietnam War. He was recognized with such awards as National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, M-14 Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, as well as .45 Pistol Sharpshooter Badge. Russ was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Am Vets. 

Russ married Sherry Walrath and they had two children, Ann and Russell. He was very involved with Ann and Russ Jr's activities. Everything from school projects, being a soccer coach, Boy Scout Leader, as well as a Girl Scout Cookie Chairmen. He was proud of his son in law, Tim, a United States Marine and could often be found hanging out with him at the NCO club. He received his greatest title, Papa, in 2004, when his pride and joy, granddaughter Mackenzie, was born. Papa had to make sure she had the biggest and best of everything. 

Over his life Russ was quite the business entrepreneur and had many businesses including car dealerships and transportation companies, insurance agencies, and worked as a casino rep. He loved golf, playing craps, and horse racing. Russ was always a jokester and the life of the party. Everything he did was big and over the top. He will be greatly missed by all.
