Ruth M. Whitcomb

Memorials may be given to SSM Hospice WHITCOMB, Ruth M., (nee: Herbert) St Charles, MO, February 1, 2006. She was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on August 29, 1922, to the late Richard and Dorothy (nee: Lambert) Herbert. Mrs. Whitcomb was married to Donald Whitcomb at St. Anne’s Church in Toronto on July 4, 1947. Before moving to Missouri in 1987, they lived in Mount Vernon, New York for many years. Devoted mother of Faith (the late Charles) Lucas and Catherine Whitcomb; dear sister of Grace (Ian) McCall; loved grandmother of Amy Lee, Joshua (Jennifer), Justin and Andrew Dixon, dearest Nana of Nicholas and Gillian Lee Mrs. Whitcomb attended public schools in Toronto and graduated from Harbord Collegiate Institute in 1940. She worked as a technician at Connaught Laboratores at the University of Toronto and as a clerk at Union Carbide Corp. in New York City. With children grown, she worked in special education for the Mount Vernon New York Board of Education. She was a member of the Anglican Church of St. Charles
