Ruth Adele Woodland

Ruth Adele Woodland (nee Wilke), of Lakewood Ranch, FL, passed away Friday, November 8, 2024, at the age of 97. Beloved wife of Charles C. Woodland; cherished daughter of the late Otto and Paula Wilke. Devoted mother of Paul Woodland; loving grandmother of Liz Woodland, Steve Woodland, Jen Woolfenden, and Matt Woodland; treasured great-grandmother of Caroline Woodland, Mya Woolfenden, Gavin Woolfenden, Bentley Woodland. Preceded in death by son, Mark Charles Woodland; two sisters, Adelaide W. Huncker and Eunice Dorothy Poggemeier; brother, Oliver "Bud" Wilke. 

Ruth was a beloved member of P.E.O. Chapter KQ. Known for her kindness and her gift for friendship, she made lasting connections with everyone she met, including her lifelong Bridge Club friends. She also made a large impact with the residents and staff at her nursing home. Ruth was an avid reader with a special love for mysteries, often sharing her favorite stories with others. She enjoyed cooking for her family, delighting them with favorite recipes, and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth also found deep fulfillment in her career as an elementary school teacher, dedicating 22 years to her students and cherishing the joy they brought into her life. Her warmth and devotion touched countless lives, and her memory will be held dearly by all who knew her. 

Memorials may be made in Ruth's name to Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
