Sam John Lafata, 91 of St. Peters, MO passed away Saturday February 22, 2020 at his home.
Sam was born September 1, 1928 in St. Louis, Mo, the son of Joseph and Mary (Quagliata) Lafata.
He was united in marriage to Mary Fox September 10, 1955 in St. Louis. The couple lived in North St. Louis County until moving to St. Charles and eventually to St. Peters several years ago.
Sam was a tool & die maker at Emerson Electric and later at McDonnel Douglas. He served his country in the Korean War and also served as a Trustee and Deacon at his church.
Sam enjoyed several hobbies including cooking, woodworking, bowling, fishing and boating. He enjoyed watching sports, and was an avid Cardinals fan. He also had a keen sense of humor and loved a good joke. He enjoyed music and never tired of listening to Gaither gospel songs and spent hours watching western movies. He loved to hear his grandchildren play their violins and was a committed follower of Jesus Christ – serving faithfully at Waypoint Church St. Charles.
Sam was preceded in death by his father and mother, sisters Criss (Lafata) Stolle and Augustine Lafata and son Dennis Lafata.
Survivors include his wife Mary, three children Cathy (Kevin) Sullivan, Don Lafata, Vicki (Randy) Collins, four grandchildren Justin (Stephanie) Collins, Brandon Collins, Taylor Sullivan, Lauren Sullivan and two great grandchildren Gavyn Collins and Blake Collins.
Interment will follow the service at Saint Charles Memorial Gardens adjacent to Baue Funeral Home Cave Springs.
