Sandra (Sandy) Topping (87 years) passed away at home on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, in Lake St. Louis, MO, after a valiant battle with extensive small cell lung cancer. She was born in 1937 and was the only child of Anna Kaczaraba and Samuel Danzig. She grew up in New York City and New Jersey. She graduated Douglass College (Rutgers) in 1958 with a degree in Journalism. Her journalism career included communications and public relations positions at Muhlenberg Hospital, Boys Life Magazine, and the Lake Tide Press.
She had a deep and active faith. She joined Living Lord Lutheran Church in its early days and was an engaged member for more than 30 years. She generously served on committees and wrote devotionals regularly. She adored her church friends and community.
Sandy’s love of nature started early in life. Her mother, Anna, taught her that if she loved nature, she would never feel poor. Nature is full of unimaginable riches. Her curiosity ensured she never stopped learning and enjoying the beauty around her. She created and ran “Shell Garden,” a small business for her intricate shell sculptures that she meticulously created with shells from her yearly trips to Fort Meyers. She shared her love for rose rocks, fossils, sharks’ teeth, constellations, and birds with her family at every opportunity.
She is survived by children Rob Topping (former spouse Vivienne Topping), Leslie Robertson (Michael), daughter-in-law Julie Topping, practically a son DJ Meyer (Lisa Davidson) and almost daughter Lisa Auton (Bernard); grandchildren Stephen Topping (Kayla), Catherine and James Robertson; great grandchild Addyson Rose Topping, cousins Vivianne Lewis (deceased spouse Davide) and Bill Kaczaraba (Cecilia), and numerous loved ones. She is preceded in death by son Ross Topping and former spouse Frank Topping, and countless wonderful friends.
Memorial service will be held on Sunday Sept 1, 2024, at 1pm at Living Lord Lutheran Church, 500 Cedar Circle Drive, Lake St. Louis, MO, 63367. Visitation begins at 12:00 pm.
