Shirley M. Bush of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at the age of 84. Loving wife of the late Roland Bush; beloved daughter of the late Fritz and Mina Dickherber; devoted mother of Sharon (David) Watson, Gayle (the late Mike) Burbach, Sandy (Dan) Kelly, and Leroy (Robin) Bush; cherished grandmother of Julie (Lou Kallmbah) Mergenthal, Stacey (John) Krieg, Colin (Jennifer) Watson, Katie (Kevin) Gentry, Leon (Jackie) Wright, Jill (Brian) Smisek, Brandi Bostic, Jenny (Brian) Beighey, Craig (Holly) Bush, Jamie (Saegar) Thomas-Tillman, Michael (Alex Hargis) Burbach, Danielle (Mysti) Kelly, and Erinn Bush; dearest great grandmother of thirty-two, and great-great-grandmother of one; dear sister of the late Edith (Clifford) Sitton.
Shirley retired after more than 30 years as owner of Metro Tax Service. She was an avid reader and enjoyed relaxing with a good book, at least one a day, and some of her favorite authors were James Patterson, Janet Evanovich, and David Baldacci. She liked to test her skill and luck playing cards with one of her card groups or sitting at the penny slots.
More than anything else, Shirley treasured the time she spent and the memories she made with her family. Whether camping with family on summer trips, or playing sports with the grandkids and great-grandkids, she lived for the quality time with her family. Someone was always around at Shirley’s house to keep her and her beloved cat, Princess, company. Shirley will be remembered as a sweet, caring woman who loved her family dearly and they were always at home when they were with her. She will be dearly missed.
Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley’s name to the
Ronald McDonald House in St. Louis.
