Shirley Mae Darby

March 21, 1936 — December 12, 2013

Darby, Shirley Mae (Quirin), our dearest mother, partner, sister, friend went home to be with the Lord in the late hours of December 12, 2013, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
Born to Albert and Jeannette Quirin of Aurora, Illinois on March 21, 1936, Shirley was big sister to Lucy Reuter (deceased) and Al (Rosemary) Quirin of North Granby, CT.
Shirley was blessed with three children of her own: Deanne (Stephen) Drassen of Veradale, WA; Jerry (Susan) Darby of Glenn Heights, TX; and Alan (Mary Jean) Darby of Vero Beach, FL. Four children later came into her life, extending her family circle and filling her heart to overflowing: Chris (Joan) Hunt of Champaign, IL; Diane (John) Luth of Ballwin, MO; Randy (Joan) Hunt of St. Charles, MO; and Rob Hunt of Ballwin, MO.
Shirley leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Candice (Cody), Tina (Derek), Evan, Adam, Mike, Madi, Jessica, Rachel, Erin, Jack, and Lauren; two great grandsons: Jace and Jackson; a nephew, Ryan; and a great niece, Lilith. Shirley was preceded in death by two nephews, Darin and Craig. She is also survived by many cousins, relatives, and friends who will miss her dearly. With each of them, she planted the seeds of her faith, the most precious gift of all.
Shirley was blessed to have found a soul mate and best friend in Ollie Hunt. He protected her heart and made her laugh, and they lived life simply and happily for over 28 years.
Shirley loved to sing; she sang on the radio as a young girl, in school plays, church choirs, and the 'Sweet Adelines'.
Memorial donations may be made in Shirley's name to Catholic Charities - Archdiocese of St. Louis, 4532 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63108.
