Stephanie Goellner

May 24, 1949 — February 15, 2010

Goellner, Stephanie Lynne Our angel has left for a better place from which she will always protect and guide us in this life. Likewise, we will turn to her for support and love in our times of need. Stephanie passed from this life after a long illness on February 15, 2010 at the age of 60. She was preceded in passing by her parents Dr. Edward Hammett and Naomi Hammett.Steph was the inspirational and loving wife of her husband Bill Goellner with whom she fostered and shared the joy of life, intellectual harmony and passionate soul mate companionship. She took great pride in the blending of our happily co-mingled family. Her love for each of the children was equal. Kelly (Rick) Borgmeyer Daleen, Jack (Anita)Borgmeyer, Chris (Jennifer) Goellner and Lara (Tom) Goellner Boarmann. One of Steph's greatest pleasures was nurturing her grandchildren; Drew Goellner, Paige Goellner, Jackson Daleen, Emma Daleen, Sierra Borgmeyer and Bennett Borgmeyer. She is also survived by her sister Dawn (Mark) Hammett Bowers, and stepmother Christine Hammett. Steph often said that her father told her she could accomplish anything she put her mind to. At birth her parents and she lived in a small trailer in St. Charles. They then lived in public housing in Memphis where her father attended school. After her parents divorced, she attended St. Charles High. Her mother was hospitalized for a long duration. At 15 Steph assumed her mother's job as a dental assistant. She quickly grew into assisting an oral surgeon. While attending UMSL she was a member of Angel Flight. In her early twenties she co-founded and managed a successful advertising agency until she retired in midlife. For fifteen years during this period she served as a hospice volunteer. Unbeknownst to most was her counseling of friends and acquaintances. She often said she should hang out a shingle. She enjoyed many years as an avid golfer who treasured her life long golfing friendships and officer roles in various leagues. Her and husband Bill traveled to many golf destinations where she often bested his score. She loved to play golf with her children and her oldest grandson. In 2004 Steph returned to the business world as vice-president of Goellner Printing, Inc. She was largely responsible for the study, acquisition and implementation of new technologies and systems thus enabling the business to stay abreast of the ever-changing printing industry, During her illness she continued from home to remotely contribute to the firm until her last day. She thus accomplished everything she put her mind to. Steph's life was love, the kind of love that is affection and respect, order, encouragement, and support. Real love is something unselfish and requires sacrifice and giving. Our Angel loved completely and lived intensely. Contributions may be made to Siteman Cancer Center, BJC Hospital, St. Peters, MO in care of Baue Funeral Home, 620 Jefferson Street, St. Charles, MO 63301. Services: Will be private. A Celebration of Joy will be held on a future date.
