Stephen John McAtee

Stephen John McAtee went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 26, 2014. Beloved husband of Edith Lucille McAtee (nee Havener) for 67 years; wonderful and loving father of Diana (Scot) Land, Donna (the late Terry) Gregory, Stephen (Kristal) McAtee, Bruce (Irene) McAtee, and Matthew McAtee. Sweet grandfather of Gabriel (Jonathan) Sovereign, Rachel (Joseph) Alm, Rebekah (Stephen) Kreiger, Chelsea (Sean) Gorman, Chanelle (Josh) Stallings, Tyson (Alyshia) McAtee, Amanda, Christian, Colton, Grace, and Emily McAtee; great-grandfather of Rose, Chase, Emma, Aaron, Edmond and many more yet to be born.
A WWII Veteran of the Army's 739th AAA Gun Battalion from 1941-1945 and recipient of various medals, he fought in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign. Stephen was self employed as a general contractor for most of his working life and retired at the age of 82. He served as a Deacon and Trustee at Hope Congregational Church and was one of the founding member of Hope's daughter church, Grace Community Chapel where he also served as a Deacon.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Community Church on Tuesday, September 2 at 11:00 AM following a private family burial. A visitation will be held on Monday evening, September 1 from 6 to 8 PM at Baue Funeral and Memorial Center.
