Steve Raps, 67, of St. Charles, MO, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 17, 2020.
Steve was born to the late Roy and Nina Raps on October 8, 1952. He grew up in Independence, MO and graduated from Van Horn High School in 1970. He received a bachelor’s degree in theology from William Jewell College in Liberty Mo and a Masters of Divinity from Midwest Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO. Steve was raised at Mount Washington Baptist Church where he accepted the Lord as his Savior and was also ordained into the ministry. He loved his church and enjoyed being a part of the youth group. He was active as a boy scout and reached the rank of Eagle Scout as a teenager. He looked forward to scout camp in Osceola, MO every year and eventually worked a few summers at the camp. Steve loved to play the guitar and sing. His favorite groups were Peter Paul and Mary and the Kingston Trio and he enjoyed singing their songs. He enjoyed wood working as a hobby and made some beautiful pieces over the years.
Steve loved the outdoors. He enjoyed landscaping his yard with beautiful flowers and riding his bike along the Katy Trail close to his home.
Steve was a minister for several years in Missouri churches before he changed career paths. He worked as the Operations Manager in Environmental Services at several St. Louis hospitals before retiring in 2015. Steven was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Steve married the love of his life of over 31 years, Karen Rouse on May 14, 1988. He is the father of Marcy Bonner, Jamie Mack, Lindsey McCutchen, and Scott Raps and the loving grandfather of Tiffany, Dillon, Jaglyn, Abigale, Julian, Colton, Jackson, Hannah and Riley. Steve is also survived by two sisters, Melody Evans and Cindy McCloud.
