Susan Hettich

Susan Caroline Hettich (nee Wessler), of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at the age of 76. Beloved wife of 56 years to her high school sweetheart, David Hettich; cherished daughter of the late Franklin and Alice Wessler; devoted mother of Kimberly (Brad) Bishop, Steven (Dana) Hettich, Amanda (Dewayne) Steele and Cynthia (Chris) Reiss; loving grandmother of Alison Bishop, Alexis (Ian) Ashley, Vann Hettich, Reese Hettich, Mackenzie Vaught, Julia Steele, Lucas Steele, Morgan Reiss and William Reiss; great-grandmother of Addy Sue Ashley; dear sister of Richard (Blanche) Wessler, Rita (Dick) Scotti, the late Denis (Charlotte) Wessler and the late Johnny Wessler. 

Susan was a beloved member of her community, forming lifelong bonds with neighbors and friends during the 50 years she lived with her “second family” on Ken Drive. She was a devoted caregiver and a second mom to many, always opening her heart and home to those around her. 

Susan had a deep love for crafts and birdwatching, finding joy in the beauty of nature. She cherished her garden, where she spent countless hours nurturing her flowers and plants. She also enjoyed playing games and cards with her friends, creating cherished memories through laughter and companionship. In her younger years, she found adventure in camping, embracing the great outdoors. 

A wonderful friend, Susan remained close with her childhood friends throughout her life. She had a gift for making connections, never meeting a stranger and always welcoming new people into her life with warmth and kindness. 

Susan was caring and compassionate. She without a doubt touched many lives. Her love for her grandchildren was like no other and she adored being a great-grandmother. She loved her son-in-laws and daughter-in-law as her own. She was an amazing wife and mother.
