Susan Lee Gotsch (nee Sievers) of St. Paul, MO, passed away at the age of 79 on Saturday, September 5, 2020. Loving wife of Gerald Gotsch; beloved daughter of the late Leo and Abita “Bee” Sievers (nee Cleghorn) and daughter-in-law of the late Harvey and Bernice Gotsch (nee Vogt).
Susan is the cherished mother of Gregory Gotsch, Krista (Darrin) Vaught, Steven (Michelle) Gotsch and Karin Boyer. She was a loving grandmother to Jacob Vaught, Jenna Vaught, Rachel Gotsch, Sydney Gotsch, Gabrielle Gotsch, Hanna Boyer, Ryan Boyer, Mia Gotsch and Riley Susan Gotsch; loving sister to Ann (Brian) Killion; dear sister-in-law to Ellen Wright-Morrissey; special cousin to Kim (Cathy) Stelzleni and loving aunt to her nieces and nephews.
Susan grew up in Jennings, MO where she attended school and made many friends. She met her husband, Gerry when they were in high school. Gerry and his best friend Don would double date with Susan and her best friend, Linda. Later, both couples would marry and continue to be best friends and neighbors in retirement. They have spent many years together in a great circle of friends.
Susan was a member of Jennings United Presbyterian Church as a child and continued to worship there with her husband and children, eventually serving as a deacon.. She worked for the Jennings School District for 26 years. She loved to serve others and was proud to be a school secretary. Susan loved to dance, bowl, and watch her kids play sports. Susan and Gerry stayed in Jennings, where they raised their children in their happy home. All of their kids’ friends would come and hang out there; she was a second mother to many.
Susan loved to socialize and have a great time in the company of others. She never met a stranger and would make conversation with anyone. She loved to have lunch and shop with her daughters and granddaughters. She hardly missed an opening day for the Cardinals, a card game with her best friends, or her grandchildren's sporting events. She was the kind of friend that anyone would cherish.
Family was everything to Susan. Her love for each member of her family was unique and special. Some of her most favorite times were spent on a beach or around a dinner table. Each Sunday, the whole family would gather at Gram’s house. She has a sign in her kitchen that reads, “A Sunday well spent, brings a week of content.”
Susan was known as one of the most reliable, loyal, and generous people you could ever meet. In her loving honor, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Susan will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
