Syble Phillips Lawther, 103, of St. Charles MO, passed away Monday (July 24, 2023) in Kansas City MO where she had lived since 2000. Mrs. Lawther taught pre-school and kindergarten at the Lindenwood University laboratory school for over 20 years, retiring in 1978. She also worked for the Army Quartermaster Corps during WWII and for the Missouri Division of Health and Welfare. She was a member of First St. Charles United Methodist Church.
On October 22, 1950, she married Jim Lawther, who died May 13, 2000. Sy and Jim spent 50 years happily traveling, dancing and playing bridge. Sy is survived by her daughter, Susan Williams and son-in-law Ken Richcreek of Kansas City; grandsons Chad Williams (Kae) and James Williams of Kansas City; and great-grandchildren Arthur and Sakura Williams.
Visitation will be Tuesday August 1st at 10 a.m. at First St. Charles United Methodist Church, 801 First Capitol Drive, St. Charles, followed immediately by funeral service. Burial will be at St. Charles Memorial Gardens, 3950 West Clay Street, St. Charles.
