Sylvia Faith McGowan (nee Gibbar) of Saint Louis, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd J. McGowan; cherished daughter of the late Leroy and Mildred Gibbar; devoted mother of Thomas (Judy) McGowan, Donald (Debbie) McGowan, Roger (Denise) McGowan, Robert McGowan, Joseph (Karen) McGowan, Kathleen (Jake) Jacobs and Edward (Chris) McGowan; loving grandmother of Elizabeth (Lou), Jennifer (Vernon), Stephen (Laura), Matthew (Jesse), Rebecca (Bill), Anne, Ryan, Katie, Kyle, Margaret, Emily, and Kimberly; treasured great-grandmother of Sylvia, Max, Lucas, Nehemiah, Gracie, Lloyd, Mark, and Billy; dear sister of Stella Weber, Norma Gibbar, Shirley Buchmann, Mary Hill and Jerry Gibbar. Sylvia is preceded in death by her siblings Hazel Blindauer, Helen Gibbar, Frances Buetler, Charles Gibbar, Jim Gibbar, Bob Gibbar, Ralph Gibbar and Danny Gibbar.
Sylvia was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Mother of Good Counsel Nursing Home.
