Terry Sofian of Saint Peters, MO, passed away at the age of 57 on Saturday, August 29, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Kay Sofian.
Terry is survived by his beloved wife, Lucy Sofian; his daughter, Kelly Sofian; his sister, Gerri Ambuchad; and his many, many friends.
Throughout his life, Terry proudly served both his country and community. He began his service as a lifeguard at Heman Park pool in University City, MO. He proudly served in both the Army National Guard/ Reserves and the Navy Reserve as a Non-Commissioned Officer. He was both a Volunteer Fire Fighter for St. Charles Central County Fire Rescue and a member of the St. Charles County Search and Rescue. In his private life Terry was in charge of Security and First Aid for both the local science fiction convention, Archon, and for the St. Louis Renaissance Festival for many years.
Terry was a military historian, published author and an accomplished game developer, designing both for role-playing and miniatures. He showcased his Victorian alternative history game, “Star of Empire,” at the Die Con and Origins gaming conventions as well as many others throughout the United States. He moderated the email list for his game, “Hive, Queen, and County,” and actively participated in the service and military lists, “Coastal Defense League,” and “Fire Control list.” He also created a game for the Admiralty Trilogy group, “No Sailor, But A Fool.”
There was a special place in Terry’s heart for his cats, whom he loved so much, and for his travels to the United Kingdom where he made many memories researching and recording the history of that land through innumerable photographs. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
