Thomas J. Hamlin, of O'Fallon, Missouri, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 at the age of 84. Loving husband to Shirley A. Hamlin (Nee Robinson) for 60 years; beloved son of the late Albert E. and Edith M. Hamlin; devoted father of Thomas J. (Magy) Hamlin, Jr., Kay L. (Freddy) Bruno, Jeffrey R Hamlin, and Sheryl A. (Mike) LaFiore; cherished grandfather of Tom Hamlin, III, Kayla Hamlin, Katelyn Bruno, Austin Pietsch, Mayson Pietsch, and Cody Pietsch; dear brother of Howard (the late Mary) Hamlin, Jackie (Steve) Vaughn, Linda (Rich) Pieper, and Duke (Donna) Hamlin; brother-in-law of Joan Hamlin, Charles Rogers, and Les (Pam) Robinson; and is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends. Thomas is also preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Rogers and his brother, Irwin Hamlin.
Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Thomas was a policeman for 13 years before going to work for Hazelwood School District as director of safety and security for 25 years. His greatest joys in life were God and family. Thomas always put his whole heart into what he did, and it was recognized by many. He was known to be a jokester and had a laugh you could not mistake. Thomas thrived in helping others, especially with St. Charles County Ministry to Men and the Board of St. Louis County Juvenile Justice. He also was on the board of Payback Inc. to help youth reconcile consequences. Thomas was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in Thomas's name to First Baptist Church of St. Charles for Debt Payoff Match or the
Alzheimer's Association.
