Thomas Michael “Mike” Compton, of Saint Louis, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the age of 68. Loving husband of 35 years to Renita R. Compton; beloved son of the late Virgil and Ollie Compton; devoted father of Renita M. (Stephen) Luehrman; cherished grandfather of Micah Luehrman and Asher Luehrman; dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Mike is also preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Compton, Richard Compton, and David Compton.
Mike proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He dedicated his talents to helping organizations and churches develop and install sound systems. He was a devoted man of faith and a member of St. Louis Family Church for more than 10 years. He will be remembered by his SLFC family for his outstanding baritone voice when he sang in the choir for the holiday and seasonal productions. He also loved to volunteer at JUMP where he helped with sound in Club XL and security on the parking lot.
Mike and his wife enjoyed going on cruises together and he looked forward to spending time on the beach. They also loved to travel to all parts of the United States for family vacations throughout the years. As food was a favorite hobby of Mike’s, he savored many meals with his wife when they went out to dinner, especially to Mexican restaurants.
Mike liked to bike ride and loved to watch the Tour de France. He rode the Pedal for the Cause and the MS150. He also liked to cook and try new recipes. Mike was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
