Thomas “Tom” Michael Carroll, of Saint Louis, MO, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at the age of 62. Cherished son of Helen M. Carroll and the late Thomas Marion Carroll; devoted father of Michael Wardle and Christina Pellerito; dear brother of Shari (Roger) Peterson and Glen Carroll; treasured uncle of Sarah and Hannah Peterson. Tom is also survived by many dear friends.
Tom was gregarious, charming, and mischievous. He was a star football player as a freshman at Hazelwood Central in 1973-1974. He had incredible talent playing guitar which led him to a professional career as a musician. Tom found other musicians in St. Louis and formed a few bands with them, and he maintained those friendships to this day. Eventually, he migrated to Fort Myers Beach and lived there for many years where he would play gigs with his bands Crystal Vision and Amber. In the 1980’s Tom returned to St. Louis and worked for the family business River City Drum.
Tragically, in February 1997, Tom walked into the path of a car going 45 miles per hour and was directly hit. He suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and was physically incapacitated for the remainder of his life. However, he was able to recall everything that happened before the accident! He could remember friends, bandmates, songs that they used to play and he could even sing lyrics.
He lived his last days at Creve Coeur Manor Nursing Home.
Tom will be missed greatly. He had tremendous impact in the lives of his family and friends. In his brother Glen’s words: “My brother Tom always had a huge influence on myself during his life. I have always admired the positive influence he has had on those who have known him throughout. I will always miss him and take solace in the fact that after his long struggle, he is finally at peace.”
Rest In Peace Tom, a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, and friend to many. March 28, 1958 – September 15, 2020
