It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Timothy, who departed this life on August 8, 2024, surrounded by family. At the age of 69, he had battled cancer for 5 years. Timothy will be deeply missed.
Born on December 20, 1954, in Richmond Heights, Missouri, Tim was the beloved husband of Teresa, his high school sweetheart. Tim and Teresa were 3 weeks shy of celebrating their 50-year wedding anniversary on August 29. He was also a devoted father to Erin (Joshua Krigelman) Godwin, Adrienne (David) Hood, and Owen (Casey) Godwin; loving grandfather to Liam, Violet, Stella, & Scarlett Hood, and Vega & Sidney Godwin.
After high school, Tim joined the United States Marine Corps where he worked on Sea Knight helicopters. He and Teresa moved multiple times across the country during his 4 years of service before returning to the St. Louis area to settle down. He began a career of over 25 years working for McDonnell Douglas, now Boeing, as an aircraft mechanic which brought opportunities to travel domestically and internationally throughout his career. Tim loved to bring back perfectly chosen souvenirs for Teresa and the kids but, for two longer assignments, he was able to bring his family along for a life-changing few years in the California desert. They lived in Ridgecrest, California, while Tim worked at Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake; weekends were spent exploring the region’s natural and historical wonders.
Tim was not only a skilled aircraft mechanic, but a masterful automotive mechanic and jack of all trades. He was the family’s handyman, seemingly able to fix anything, and shared his knowledge with his children. His care for others also extended to adopting rescue dogs with a soft spot for senior dogs, seeing the life and love they still had to give. Tim also loved the outdoors, often helping Erin with her community gardening projects in the Benton Park West neighborhood of St. Louis. When he wasn’t busy helping family, he enjoyed westerns, Hallmark movies and even Shrek, whom he jokingly saw himself in. Most of all, Tim will be remembered for loving his wife, Teresa, and the family they created together.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Timothy's name to Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
