Gilbert, Velda J., of O'Fallon, Missouri, died on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at the age of 97. Loving wife of the late John Miles Gilbert; beloved daughter of the late Charles and Lottie Wake; devoted mother of Richard (Sherry) Gilbert; cherished grandmother of Pamela (Todd) Kutz and Scott (Michelle) Gilbert; treasured great-grandmother of Hailey and Taylor Kutz and Kaleb, Alyssa and Aiden Gilbert. She is preceded in death by her brother Walter Wake.
Velda was a Life Member of the Young Women's Association of East St. Louis, Illinois, a Life Member of the Garden Club of Illinois, and a Life Member of the National Council of State Garden Clubs. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and golfing.
