Velma Mae Finnern (nee Utz), of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the age of 98. Beloved wife of the late Carl Finnern; cherished daughter of the late Edward Utz and Velma Langley. Devoted mother of Ron (Devera) Finnern, Linda (Rick) Holland, Gary (Wanda) Finnern, Dennis Finnern, Carl (Kathleen) Finnern, Jr., Gerard Finnern, Suzanne (Robert) Green, Lisa (Scott) Sponable, Donna (Robert) Turkington, and Michael (Jackie) Finnern; loving grandmother of 20 grandchildren; treasured great-grandmother of 22 great grandchildren; dear sister of the late Gladys Woodside.

Velma, a beloved member of her community, shared 57 years of unwavering love and commitment with her spouse. Adorned in her signature red hat as a proud member of the Red Hats Ladies, she embodied elegance and camaraderie. In her leisure time, Velma found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was the thrill of yelling "Bingo!" in a crowded hall, creating intricate crafts with meticulous care, or embarking on exciting winter adventures to far-flung destinations. Her zest for life and warm spirit endeared her to all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to call her friend. Velma was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
