Velma Settles

Velma Settles (nee Adams), of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 at the age of 89. Beloved wife of Eugene "Cotton" Settles; cherished daughter of the late Lester and Cora Adams. Devoted mother of Dennie Settles, Stephen Settles, Vickie (John) Pipes, and Kevin (Jane) Settles; loving grandmother of Carrie Settles, Jim Burris, Jennifer (Scott) Burch, Kyle (Amelia) Settles, and Allison Settles; treasured great-grandmother of Henry, Kayden, Abby, and Kaia; dear sister of Faye (Jim) Dicks, Sharon (the late Earl) Baughman, sister-in-saw, Jackie and Carolyn Adams; numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends. Preceded in death by Seven Brothers, Arnold Adams, Kenneth Adams, Darrell Adams, Toy Adams, Donley Adams, Odell Adams, Hoyle (Francis) Adams; Two Sisters, Rita (Bill) Holey, Ethel Gunter.

Velma was married to Cotton for nearly 75 years, they shared a great love and raised a beautiful family. She loved Cardinals Baseball and was an avid fan of baseball in general, she especially enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren’s games. Velma enjoyed taking care of her yard and growing and tending to her gardens, especially her flower beds. Her family and her grandchildren were most important to her. Velma was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The family requests that if you are currently showing any symptoms of illness that you please refrain from attending services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date for all who wish to attend.
