Verda Irene Richelshagen, 92 passed away on April 18th in Valparaiso, Indiana, with loving care by Horton VNA Hospice Center. She was born and lived in St. Charles, MO, Peoria, IL, Venice, FL and was recently a resident of Millers Assisted Living (Portage, IN). She was preceded in death by her brothers Vernon, Francis and Kurt Seeler and nephews Richard and Randy Seeler and Robert Appleby, Senter Ebeling and Bill Richelshagen. Survived by her daughter, Sandy Appleby (Portage); nephew Roger Seeler (St. Charles); great nephews Ryan Seeler, Mathew Seeler and Zachary Seeler; niece Jan Moore and Bob Moore (Venice) and great nephews John, Robert and James Moore and Keith Tennant; niece Nancy Appleby (Washington, DC) and great nieces Meredith and Monica; niece Joan Maison (Toms River, NJ) and great nephew Scott and great niece Kim (deceased); brother-in-law Jack and Marion Appleby (Venice) and Peg Regal (Peoria, IL); sister in-laws Marion Ebeling (Bryant, AR), Irene Ebeling, Ruth Ebeling and Harlan and Ruth Ebeling (St. Charles); godchildren Adam Barnard (Shreveport, LA) and Christine Mattiker Swaboda (Eagle, ID); and special friends Diana Cook, Sharon, Ken, Rick and Teresa Fee (Portage), Janet Sullivan (Valparaiso), Mildred McConnell and Dr. Roy Westerfeld (St. Charles). She was a customer service representative for Union Electric and the head bookkeeper for St. Charles Savings and Loan. Her volunteer activities included St. Charles Business and Professional Women, St. Charles Historical Society, Girl Scouts, Lutheran Womens League, Venice Nokomis Womens Club, Venice Regional Hospital Auxiliary, Art Barn School of Art. She was an artist, traveler and author of her autobiography, The Lord is My Shepard by Second Hand Rose. We will love and miss her forever.
